Lee and I started playing chess together.  (7/1/24)

This is the look they gave me any time they worked out one of my "tricky" plans.  (7/1/24)

They beat me soundly, figuring out and foiling every single one of my plans.  It was really fun.  (7/1/24)

Baking cakes and picking plums.  (7/2&6/24)

Time for a week at the beach.  (7/7/24)

Driftwood forts and weapons.  (7/7/24)

Drawing a big cat.  (7/7/24)

Drawing bigger and bigger fish.  (7/7/24)

Finding a little critter.  (7/7/24)

Little critters are delightful.  (7/7/24)

Sandcastles and buried in sand.  (7/8/24)

While the rest of us play in the sand, Lane is busy doing SCIENCE.  (7/8/24)

We stopped by the kite shop in Newport and picked out a kite.  And also this boomerang.  (7/8/24)

We named our fluttery rainbow octopus kite Roy, because he's a rainbow.  But also, he's here, he's there, he's everywhere... Roy Kite!  (7/8/24)

Kitty-cat gets tangled in the octopus's stringy tentacles.  (7/8/24)

Comparing their own hand to the size of a wolf's paw print and looking at a replica wolf skull at the White Wolf Sanctuary.  (7/9/24)

A bunch of kids interested in marine biology.  (7/9/24)

Moar SCIENCE.  (7/9/24)

S'mores on the beach at sunset.  'Cause it's always a good time.  (7/9/24)

Hot and cold beachly delights.  (7/9/24)

Putting the fire down for the night.  (7/9/24)

Mostly, Lee prefers exploring the sand dunes to playing in the waves.  (7/10/24)

This stretch of ocean got trapped behind a sand bar, so it's been warmed by the sun and isn't so bitingly cold.  (7/10/24)

More s'mores.  (7/10/24)

Lane is not bothered by the cold.  (7/10/24)

Truly a spectacular sunset over the ice cold waves.  (7/10/24)

Lane's group gives their presentation on Clawdia the Dungeness Crab at the end of the Hatfield Marine Science Center summer camp.  (7/11/24)

Clawdia's tank is on the left.  (7/11/24)

Piper says 'no' to hugs.  (7/13/24)

Celebrating the release of Paw Prints Beyond the Moon with a giant cookie, despite Cookie Monster's warnings about this subject.  (7/15/24)

We spent an afternoon at the Eugene Science Center.  (7/18/24)

Playing with light and shadows.  (7/18/24)

The fluidic nano-magnets may have been the best display.  (7/18/24)

We finished this challenge -- matching up the right colored blocks -- just in time as the center was closing.  (7/18/24)
