Welcoming Hannah into our family.  (6/1/23)

Such a noble puppy face.  (6/1/23)

Avery says, "Squirt me!"  (6/2/23)

So Lee did.  (6/2/23)

Hannah doesn't yet understand this game.  (6/2/23)

Hannah looks so much like Carl that we keep thinking, "Who left Carl lying on the floor?!?!"  (6/3/23)

A play date in the park that started with basketball evolved into water play.  (6/4/23)

Hannah is a cuddly girl.  (6/4/23)

Puppy buddies.  (6/7/23)

We had a hard couple days, so someone sent us a fancy fruit salad to help make it better.  (6/7/23)

Lane spent all afternoon making this delicious masterpiece.  (6/9/23)

Celebrating Lee's birhtday eve with a round of Exploding Kittens.  I pointed out that the ocean is larger than Hannah.  Somehow this was funny.  (6/9/23)

Lee is ready to have a really good day.  (6/10/23)

Lee's birthday party began with all the kids running around having a squirt gun fight.  (6/10/23)

Even Avery got to participate.  (6/10/23)

So many kids who Lee usually only sees online were suddenly there in person!  (6/10/23)

Pizza, watermelon, capri sun, and now cake!  (6/10/23)

Time for the loot llama.  (6/10/23)

After all the other, younger kids got three hits, Lane outright decapitated it.  (6/10/23)

And then, forgoing the stick entirely, Lee resorted to fists.  (6/10/23)

Finally, all the children tore the poor llama apart.  (6/10/23)

Slayer of llamas.  But not a sniper.  (6/10/23)

Lee made sure to shoot each of the T-rex's on the wrapping paper.  Much delight over Lane's gift of CD-copies of all of Taylor Swift's albums.  (6/10/23)

"What are you doing with those giant paws?  What are your plans?"  (6/12/23)

Some of Hannah's plans.  (6/13/23)

Meeting their 4th grade teacher for the first time in person on the last day of school.  (6/15/23)

Running with Avery, Hannah, and one of Hannah's classmates from puppy school.  (6/15/23)

The first day of summer, spent playing a puzzle game they bought with birthday money.  (6/16/23)

We went on a walk and ended up hanging out in the big grassy field behind the elementary school.  (6/16/23)

Running with the puppies... until they collaborated to take Lee down.  (6/16/23)

Rolling with the puppies.  (6/16/23)

The Shelties still aren't entirely sure about this big baby.  (6/17/23)

Offering catnip to Hazel.  (6/17/23)

Piper was less affected by the catnip than she was by the presence of the dogs.  (6/17/23)

Avery is bewildered and distressed by us asking her to help put Lane to bed.  (6/17/23)

We return to the beach with a new puppy this time... (6/18/23)

Hannah was less sure about the waves than Avery.  (6/18/23)

Cole is sure about the waves.  Sure that he'd like to stay out of them.  (6/18/23)

Our walk along the beach got derailed by someone finding a fun place to bury themself.  (6/18/23)

Hannah may be getting some ideas for later from all this digging...  (6/18/23)

We all stop to watch the sand-burrowing antics.  (6/18/23)

It's hard to beat ending the day with a sunset viewed from a hot tub.  (6/18/23)

It's become a tradition to play with balloons at the beach house.  (6/19/23)

Avery loves it.  (6/19/23)

She's remarkably good at punching the balloons with her nose.  (6/19/23)

Time to head back out to the beach!  (6/19/23)

The puppies sort of wanted to play in the waves with Lee...  (6/19/23)

...but they had trouble keeping up.  The waves don't come as high on Lee.  (6/19/23)

Taking a break from waves to flop down the beach.  (6/19/23)

Suddenly Lee decided it was time to fly a kite, and the industrious child ran back to the beach house to get one.  (6/19/23)

They got it up really high.  (6/19/23)

Hannah and Lee dig a hole together.  (6/20/23)

Time for another sunset.  (6/20/23)

The sunset looked like it was straight out of a Sega game like Ecco the Dolphin.  (6/20/23)

We walked much longer than we'd meant to, because we just kept staring at it.  (6/20/23)

We finally made it to the Hatfield Marine Science Center...  (6/21/23)

It was like a mini-OMSI focused on the ocean.  (6/21/23)

When you held your hand above this interactive topographical map, it rained.  Lee constructed Crater Lake.  (6/21/23)

While Lee played, Lane grilled everyone there about how to get jobs in marine science.  (6/21/23)

Lane begged, so we went to the aquarium too.  (6/21/23)

The aviary was open for the first time in a while.  (6/21/23)

Taking Hannah to her first check-up.  (6/22/23)

Suddenly a lot of birthday parties.  (6/24/23)

Double dog tug-o-war.  (6/23/23)

Quite the trio.  (6/27/23)

The puppies think Lee should share their bread.  (6/28/23)

"I'm actually quite happy that I'm trapped."  (6/28/23)

Avery likes to police the way Lee and Hannah play.  (6/28/23)

Avery was jealous.  (6/28/23)

Total puppy chaos all the time.  (6/28/23)

A new milestone:  controlling a motor vehicle.  (6/28/23)

Hazelcat4 and Hazel.  (6/30/23)

Proud Code Ninja, looking forward to learning more.  (6/30/23)
