The birds at the Raptor Center look like they want to eat Lee, but Lee assures them, "I could take you down in a game of Roblox!"  (10/2/21)

Lee is quite a bit smaller than the wingspan of a golden eagle.  (10/2/21)

Lee has about the same wingspan as a barred owl, but Lane is much shorter than this tree.  (10/2/21)

Not everyone feels the need to challenge every bird they see to a game of Roblox.  Some of us can appreciate them much more sedately.  (10/2/21)

Writing a play about Cat-Kid stopping Dog-Kid from stealig T-Rex bones from the museum for their Upstart Crow class about scriptwriting.  (10/7/21)

Swinging from the cherry-plum tree.  (10/7/21)

Lee forgot their mask and wanted to see how this borrowed one looked; and the start of a snowman costume for Upstart Crow's Rudolph Jr.  (10/7&8/21)

More cosplay!  (10/16/21)

We geared everyone up with a flashlight... for the haunted corn maze!  (10/16/21)

Werewolves, mad scientists, and all flavors of witches jumped out to scare us.  We even stopped to listen to a haunting recital of Poe's "The Raven."  (10/16/21)

Finding clues in the dark along the way.  (10/16/21)

Tower time.  (10/17/21)

It's quite startling when Lee slows down enough to fall asleep during the day...  (10/18/21)

...after a few hours of sleep though, they suddenly woke up; announced, "Now that I'm feeling better: Minecraft!"; and ran off to play computer games.  (10/18/21)

We hurried to Thistledown Farms before it closed, on a very rainy day.  (10/21/21)

We picked a few big pumpkins from out front, but we also wanted a few small ones.  (10/21/21)

Lane found one that's just perfect for the pumpkin carving party tomorrow at Upstart Crow.  (10/21/21)

Lee rejoices at the magnificent bounty of pumpkins.  (10/21/21)

While Grand-Janet bought the pumpkins and other goodies, the kids rushed out to the hay maze for a game of tag.  (10/21/21)

While the kids scurried around the maze, it was absolutely pouring outside.  (10/21/21)

Precious, ancient cat.  (10/22/21)

Hanging out on the floor, feeding the dogs treats.  (10/22/21)

Lee picks out a good carving knife.  (10/24/21)

Let the stabbing and slicing begin!  (10/24/21)

While the rest of us scoop out the slimy innards, Grand-Janet takes the clever route and draws a face on her pumpkin.  (10/24/21)

Lee watches their dad plan out his pumpkin's face.  (10/24/21)

Lee puts together a plan for their own pumpkin.  (10/24/21)

Lee explains how it's perfect for a Jack-o-Lantern to have a cat face, because cats' eyes really do glow.  (10/24/21)

Lane draws a plan for how to turn their pumpkin into Hello Kitty.  (10/24/21)

The kids consider the difficulty of the plan Lane has laid for themself.  (10/24/21)

Done with their own pumpkin, Lee pretends to play the Addams' Family theme music.  (10/24/21)

Very careful carving...  (10/24/21)

An excellent success.  (10/24/21)

Ensconsed in an array of digital worlds.  (10/25/21)

We wanted some candy and happened to know that Grand-Janet had already bought some...  (10/29/21)

Thus, trick-or-treating two days early!  (10/29/21)

Getting ready for many hours of trick-or-treating -- three sessions in three locations, spread over two days.  First, downtown in the afternoon.  Next, the Haunted Market in the evening.  Then actual Halloween trick-or-treating with some of Lane's friends across town.  (10/30/21)

All dressed up and ready for a full weekend of Halloween.  (10/30/21)

After last year's total isolation, it was kind of trippy to be back to relatively normal trick-or-treating.  (10/30/21)

Of course, some of the stores downtown decided to be clever with their trick-or-treating...  This one set up a game; Lane managed to land the ping pong ball in the cup filled with the most candy.  (10/30/21)

Nothing like shaved ice on a cold day...  Also, one of the more unusual treak-or-treating treats.  Lane picked strawberry; Lee chose blue raspberry.  (10/30/21)

A couple people recognized Lane's costume and were very excited.  Also, Lane got an adorable little plant!  (10/30/21)

Some places hid their trick-or-treat bowls at the end of long, strange journeys...  (10/30/21)

Overall, seeing all the decorations and costumes was delightful.  (10/30/21)

Lane's second costume of the weekend -- Hello Kitty's bunny friend, Melody.  (10/31/21)

Hiro from Big Hero Six and Melody the bunny are ready for their final round of trick-or-treating.  (10/31/21)

Lane joined a gang of about a half dozen teens from Upstart Crow who looped all through this neighborhood, trick-or-treating until they were thoroughly lost and needed directions to guide them back to where they started.  (10/31/21)

Lee ran ahead of the teenagers, far too eager to be held back by their meandering and chatting when there was candy to focus on.  (10/31/21)

The kids gathered so much candy during their three sessions of trick-or-treating that they invented a new tradition -- trick-or-table -- so, their adults can share in the bounty by knocking on the table and asking for a piece of candy.  Then the kids get to share if they feel like it.  (10/31/21)
