Toasting the release of Otters In Space 4 by booping Avery on the nose with a glass of Martinelli's.  Nose toasts are the highest toasts.  (12/1/23)

Hannah would like some attention.  (12/8/23)

But Lee is busy learning Klingon in Duolingo.  (12/8/23)

Hannah will have to settle for being near the attention.  (12/8/23)

Some lovely popcorn chains.  (12/9/23)

Visiting Santa at 5th St. Market.  Lee said they knew this was the real Santa, becuase he remembered that they wanted Legos for Christmas last year.  (12/10/23)

Lee's teacher was kind and rearranged the schedule for her 5-person class so that they'd start the winter crafts a couple days early.  This made it much easier for Lee to participate, since we spent the end of the last school week at the beach.  (12/11/23)

Bananagrams at the Beach House.  (12/12/23)

Running along a very cold beach.  (12/13/23)

Stopping to roll a log toward the surf.  (12/13/23)

A good way to get cold all the way down to your bones.  (12/13/23)

Lane's shoes tried to run away, but he caught them.  (12/13/23)

The dogs don't want to walk along the beach.  They want to scuffle!  (12/13/23)

According to Rebecca Bunch, pictures taken at sunset are one of the best ways to get more likes per post.  (12/14/23)

A lovely picture that Lee drew during our time at the beach.  (12/15/23)

As always, we hit the aquarium on the way home from the beach.  (12/15/23)

Lee skipped the aquarium this time, so they could get home earlier and make it to a school holiday party at Putter's Pizza.  (12/15/23)

Teaching Lee and Piper about baking.  (12/16/23)

A trip to the library led to an unexpectedly giant game of checkers.  (12/17/23)

The library has some fun activities.  (12/17/23)

Baking crackle cookies.  (12/21/23)

Taking a break from slicing apples for pie filling to make dogs do tricks to earn apple scraps.  (12/21/23)

Making pie crust.  (12/21/23)

Brushing the lattice top with special non-toxic milk.  (12/21/23)

Picking out bulk candy for decorating gingerbread houses.  (12/22/23)

It's a tough call as to whether the child or the dog is larger.  (12/23/23)

Building a nice simple gingerbread house.  (12/23/23)

Building a complicated gingerbread aquarium and concert hall.  (12/23/23)

Such a sugary activity almost always leads to hilarity.  (12/23/23)

Blue sugar everywhere.  (12/23/23)

This building involves a concert hall, garden, haunted tower, and fish house.  (12/23/23)

Gorgeous gingerbread constructions.  (12/23/23)

Lane's pretty good at guessing what's inside of presents.  Avery's not sure the children have a permit for this activity.  (12/23/23)

The kids started Christmas Eve by making a big batch of pancakes.  (12/24/23)

Baking giant gingersnaps for Santa.  (12/24/23)

Fancy hot chocolate with all the toppings while watching Christmas movies.  (12/24/23)

We got a nice late start to Christmas morning, meaning Lee had plenty of time to play Fortnite before everyone else got up.  (12/25/23)

Building the Lego set from Santa while waiting for adults to be ready to open presents.  (12/25/23)

Avery says we haven't filed the appropriate permits for opening presents.  (12/25/23)

The fancy Nerf gun that Lee was hoping for.  (12/25/23)

As everyone else opened presents, Lee stood by, ready to shoot them if they turned out to be evil.  (12/25/23)

Robot toys!  (12/25/23)

The expansion for Sabobatage.  (12/25/23)

The dogs got presents, but Hannah took all of them and hoarded them under the coffee table.  And Avery likes the cats' new toy better anyway.  (12/25/23)

Going through a present that's full of new outfits for Lemon.  (12/25/23)

Jasmine Dragon tea for Grand Janet and Tulsi Chai for me, picked for us by the kids.  (12/25/23)

Two new presents that require wildly different amounts of precision and care to play with them.  (12/25/23)

Lane is grateful for this present, because it means he won't have to buy anthing that's sold or sell anything that's bought.  (12/25/23)

We played several rounds of Sabobatage with the new expansion.  Each kid won at least once.  (12/25/23)

The river otters were all sleeping at the zoo today.  (12/28/23)

We were unsure from looking at this whether a black bear would be bigger than Hannah.  (12/28/23)

The zoo is a tiring place, so Lee stopped for a nap.  (12/28/23)

Lee cooperates with having their picture taken with the flamingos.  (12/28/23)

Lemon waves 'hi' to the flamingos.  (12/28/23)

The zoo is a good place to escape your troubles.  (12/28/23)

All hail the giant jellyfish!  (12/28/23)

This bear is definitely bigger than Hannah.  (12/28/23)

Returning Garfield books to the library.  (12/26/23)

Videogaming.  (12/26/23)

Checking out more Garfield books from the library.  (12/30/23)

A trip to the dump to help clear the garage of the old, broken things filling it up.  (12/30/23)

Time for dinosaurs and destruction...  (12/31/23)

...graham crackers and candy... (12/31/23)

...and learning that karate chops can hurt your hand.  (12/31/23)

Goodbye, 2023.  (12/31/23)
