Hanging out with Piper.  (1/2/21)

Piper and Hazel aren't so sure about this...  (1/2/21)

Starting the year off with unicorn costumes, homemade magic wands, and spells involving candles.  (1/3/21)

Cream cheese frosting.  (1/3/21)

Frosting the giant cookie...  (1/3/21)

Decorating the giant cookie with colorful patterns...  (1/3/21)

Voila!  Fruit pizza!  (1/3/21)

Celebrating the release of the second book in my Entangled Universe trilogy with cake and the song, "Happy Book Day!"  (1/5/21)

Toasting and toasting, the clinking never ends.  (1/5/21)

Homegrown mushrooms, aesthetically arranged in a basket.  (1/7/21)

The bunny family is baking cookies.  (1/9/21)

The kids took an interest in Calico Critters, so I dug out my Sylvanian Family Animals (what the brand was called when I was a kid) and let them pick families to play with.  (1/9/21)

While the bunnies sedately ate cookies, the bear family had a much more chaotic time involving a flying bassinet.  (1/9/21)

Time for the Zodiac Cats puzzle Santa left us.  (1/10/21)

The kids spent their allowance on buying Calico Critter families of their own -- cats for Lee and bunnies for Lane.  (1/12/21)

This cat family's first order of business upon arriving was to adopt a new baby.  (1/12/21)

The lemon cake cracked in half, but once Lane covered it in chocolate frosting and cheerful flowers that didn't matter at all.  (1/18/21)

Lee does schoolwork at Grand Janet's next door while Lane practices baking at home.  (1/19&21/21)

Fishing for Piper.  (1/19/21)

Marveling at the tiny mushrooms.  (1/19/21)

The days are getting longer again.  (1/19/21)

A beautiful portrait of Lee's cat family.  (1/20/21)

Lee on the subject of Calico Critters:  “Someday I’m going to have all of them and I’m going to keep them so special and play with them every day. And my kids will love them, if I have kids...”  (1/20/21)

Doll house time.  (1/21/21)

Bedtime with Lee and Amy.  (1/21/21)

Perfect as pie.  (1/23/21)

Lane constructs a cake inspired by Sweet Life's strawberry cloud nine.  (1/27/21)

Studying unicorns and building a mountain of plushies.  (1/24&28/21)

After many months of waiting, we got to meet the four puppies that we get to pick between for our next orange Sheltie.  First, we met  the two shyer boys -- Sploosh and Speckle.  (1/29/21)

Next we met the two more playful pups -- Orange and Diamond.  (1/29/21)

Even knowing we'd bring one home in less than a week, it was really hard to say goodbye.  (1/29/21)

Sometimes, the playground has other kids on it, so our kids play in this giant tree instead.  (1/30/21)

The kids could climb in this tree forever, but their silly adults don't like getting rained on while standing outside it.  Inside, the branches are thick enough that the kids stay perfectly dry.  Truly, a magical place.  (1/30/21)

There were a lot of frustrations and uncertainty along the way, but Lane's first attempt at making croissants resulted in warm, flaky, buttery goodness straight out of the oven.  Mmmm.  (1/31/21)

Lounging outdoors; laboring indoors.  (1/31/21)

We got a construction set for building forts.  (1/31/21)

Some of the connections were tricky, but the result speaks for itself.  (1/31/21)

Forts are magical places.  (1/31/21)

Winding down from the evening's excitement by creating some designer dinosaurs.  (1/31/21)
